New Graduates or former Executives as Consultants - what's the better deal?

Consulting Companies as Headhunters - that was the caption of a recent article in the German news magazine "Der Spiegel". It reported on the recruiting methods of the big consulting companies in the universities. The targets, undergraduates in their last year. The objective, to win them as consultants for these consulting companies.

Can new graduates really help companies that are in serious operating trouble? We, at PQ+, remain sceptical. The results from our projects indicate that expert knowledge and experience are irreplaceable. Only recently, we could solve within months a complex customer problem through a team of former senior executives, while big consulting firms had produced no results other than their bills over some years.

Joining a consulting company as a young graduate is undoubtedly an exceptional opportunity to learn a lot about business in a short time. However, when this "further" education is done at the expense of the customer, it leaves a bitter taste.

Therefore, we recommend graduates to join directly a company, to get their hands on experience and the expertise necessary later for their career path.

Our customers, we simply recommend to hire former executives from our network for best results. A choice that pays off.
